The Virgin Mary’s humility and whole-hearted surrender to God are a model for us all. However, modern Catholic doctrines about Mary attribute qualities to her which make her seem to be almost like a goddess. Mariology embraces a variety of philosophies and devotional practices. Some of them encourage a degree of Marian devotion that is a form of worship. If you want to see this for yourself, then watch the videos which are listed after the Bibliography. They will show you how Catholic mariology impacts the lives of people.
The basic theme of the Bible from the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation is, "Who will you worship?" The Bible makes it quite clear that only God is to be worshiped. Therefore, worship of Mary is contrary to Scripture. It also goes against the teachings of the early Church fathers. Catholic theologians make technical distinctions between worship of God and devotion to Mary. However, most Catholics don’t understand those theological distinctions. As a result, many Catholics express their love for Mary in ways that actually are a form of worship. However, they don’t realize that they are worshiping Mary.
